Description

Press release by the Central Bank of Nigeria on the special examination of the last batch of fourteen banks in the country.

In the latest audit results, Bank PHB, Spring Bank and Equitorial Trust Bank failed the regulator's various tests.

As such their CEOs have been removed.

On August 14, 2009, Lamido Sanusi, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria announced the removal of the CEOs of 5 banks: Sebastian Adigwe (Afribank), Okey Nwosu (FinBank), Erastus Akingbola (Intercontinental Bank), Cecilia Ibra (Oceanic Bank) and Barth Ebong (Union Bank). The apex bank immediately announced new managements for the affected banks.
