Jefferson is a server at the UUA. When you're not at the UUA you can use Jefferson over theInternet to access:
Your UUA email and calendar using Outlook.
Files stored on the UUA network (e.g., "shares")
Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel)When you're logged in to Jefferson, your local computer's screen looks like a Windows desktop.The virtual desktop you see is not the desktop of your local computer, nor is it the desktop of your computer at work. You cannot access the workstation in your UUA office or any files on itslocal C: drive using Jefferson.To connect to Jefferson you use the Remote Desktop Connection.1.
Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote DesktopConnection. (It may be under Accessories if you’ve installed Windows XP service pack (Continued on the next Page)
You see the Remote Desktop Connection window. Type "jefferson.uua.org" and click Connect.3.
Type your username and password into the Log On To Windows dialog box and click OK. Use the same credentials you use to log on to UUA systems. This is almost alwaysyour first initial and last name and the password you use at work.(Continued on the next page)
