With the economy the way it is, the daily dose of bad news on television and radio, andthe fast-paced lives of most people, no wonder most people are stressed out and many people are living with anxiety. These tips should greatly reduce the stress and anxiety youface every day.
Incorporate relaxation techniques into your daily routine.
There are many greatavenues to choose from. Some of these are mind/body techniques that anyone can do.You could try meditation, tai chi, yoga, deep breathing, guided imagery, and others. Doyour own research here to pick one that you will practice regularly. Please don't think youdon't have the time, some of these only take 15-20 minutes a day, and the benefits arewell worth it.
Pay attention to what you are doing right this minute.
We all have challenges in lifeand sometimes tragedy. I don't mean to downplay anyone's problems, but we tend tomake things worse than they really are. Do you have a roof over your head tonight? Foodin the fridge? Family that loves you? Reasonably good health? Be grateful for the goodthings in your life, and you will feel less stressed and anxious.
Keep a journal.
Write down the circumstances next time you are anxious or have a panicattack. Do you know what is bothering you? What are the feelings you have when youare anxious or panicky. If you can begin to identify these things, you can begin to solvethe problem.
Find someone to talk to.
I don't necessarily mean someone in a white coat, unless youfeel strongly about doing so. I'm talking about a friend who can relate to what you aregoing through or is just a good listener. It will help you just to get it out. Stress, anxiety, and panic attacks are very common. Don't think you are "weird" or alone.
Use positive self talk.
You know that little voice in your head that is constantlychattering? That's what I'm talking about. You may not even be aware of it most of thetime, but it's always there. Negative self talk helps to cause anxiety and panic attacks.Become more aware of this self talk and change the negative to a positive. One caution.Don't change an extremely negative thought into an extremely positive one or you won't believe it.
