Description

(Nanci) Modiano went to Mexico City with her husband last November. She then endured 35 days of spiking fevers that reached 108 degrees, kept alive by 24-hour nursing by family members in New Jersey. "I was scared I would go into a coma, the fevers were so high," she says. But she couldn't go to a hospital to have her malaria treated, because that would lower the fevers she thought would help her.
