In this unpublished decision, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) reversed the denial of the respondent’s asylum application upon finding his two return trips to Cameroon were not sufficient by themselves to rebut the presumption that he would face future persecution, and that his the making of false statements to an asylum officer or in a removal proceeding is not sufficient to deny asylum in the exercise of discretion. The decision was written by Member Roger Pauley and joined by Member Teresa Donovan and Member Linda Wendtland.
