The traditional environment o this career couple’s recently acquired home didn’tt their lively and entertaining liestyle. Design solutions included modernizingthe eel and look throughout the home, with an emphasis on renovating the kitchenand the master bath. Expanding the kitchen made room or both cooks andremoving walls opened the space to the existing amily room. Coordinated colors, materials and cabinetry enliven the space. The simplicity o the adjoining living areasemphasizes the home’s beauty and lends a signature backdrop or entertaining.

This Aurora homeowner knew exactly what she did and did not want in hermaster bath. Cindy’s overall vision or remodeling her home’s master bath was acasual rustic look. The color and texture o the materials selection was extremely important to her and key to the overall design. Along with the redesign and theaddition o natural materials, updating the vanity, tub and steam shower trans-ormed this bath into a magically relaxing retreat.

Kitchen Design in the new marketplace
Design trends seem to fow with the samewave o movement as the economy. In recentmore prosperous times, along with thebuilding boom, came larger kitchens andthe introduction o many new appliances…warming drawers, steam ovens and ullyintegrated appliances rom washers anddryers to rerigerators. Heavily carvedmoldings, glazed and distressed cabinetinishes and large two and even three cookkitchens were in vogue.
Simplicity: Contemporary witha Classic Flair
With the change in economic times we areseeing a movement to a more understateddesign trend. Simplicity and “less is more”are the phrases we are hearing today. Weare seeing more kitchens with clean crisplines illed to the brim with unctionalelements in eiciently designed smallerspaces. These designs are anything butordinary, using exciting new materials thatgive each kitchen the homeowner’s ownspecial signature. These new design trendsare bordering on contemporary with aclassical lair. Heavily carved moldings arebeing replaced with simpler trim details.
Efficient, Eclectic and Green
It is still desirable to have dierent inishesand many textured suraces mixed in onekitchen. The eclectic kitchen intermixedwith urniture type pieces is deinitelyhere to stay. Gone orever are the days oentire kitchens made in one wood speciesand one color coordinating countertops. These new eicient design solutions seemto better it the liestyle and budget otoday’s consumers. Green has also takena irm hold with the use o products romrecycled glass or recycled paper countertopsto more energy eicient appliances andother renewable resources. New excitingtechnology in reconstituted veneers givesaccessibility to exotic materials like zebrawood without destroying our rain orests.Homeowners have come to realize theyneed to do their part to preserve the naturalresources o our planet. I eel the marketplace o the past year has driven this newdesign movement and it is a positive thing…as change can be good.Call us to arrange a complimentary designconsultation, 630.469.4980.
