NIV to be revised in 2011

A revision of the NewInternational Version of the Biblewill be available in 2011,according to a jointannouncement Sept. 1 byZondervan, Biblica and theCommittee on Bible Translation.The revision will mark the firstcomplete update of the NIV since1984.Zondervan also said the newtranslation's publication will mark the end of the TNIV, thecontroversial version released infull in 2005 with gender-neutrallanguage.“As time passes and Englishchanges, the NIV is becomingincreasingly dated,” Keith Danby,global president of Biblica,formerly the International BibleSociety and Send the Light, saidduring a news conference atTrinity Christian College in PalosHeights, Ill., site of the firstmeeting of the Committee onBible Translation in 1965.“The NIV charter anticipatedthis, and it obliges us to respond.If we want to maintain the NIVas a Bible that English speakersaround the world can understand,we have to listen to and respectthe vocabulary they are usingtoday,” Danby said.

The firststep you need to take is to break-off all ties with him and tell himthat you will not meet him again.Continuing this friendship couldspell further trouble for you.Therefore, get out of thisrelationship immediately.It is time to take stock of your situation. It’s quite natural thatyou need love and friendship but before that you need to developas a mature and strong person to be able to stand on your own.Then, you may make friends withwhom you can take wisedecisions together. At that pointin life you may not be helpless,or taken for a ride.These are a few steps that youneed to take:1)Make Jesus your bestfriend and invite Him into your heart and make Him your heavenly Father.2)Read the WORD everyday. A chapter of Proverbs willgive you wisdom. Read theGospels and draw strength.3)Ask Jesus for wisdomand direction in your day-to-daylife (James 1:5 and Proverbs 3:5-6).4)“Commit your works tothe Lord, and your thoughts will be established”. (Proverbs 16:3).5)Get a good job and doyour work as unto the Lord.Money answers all things(Ecclesiastes 10:19).6)Pray for your parents toreunite.7)Wait on the Lord.You need to share your decisions with your parents, pastor, elders and friends; as in amultitude of counselors there issafety (Proverbs 11:14). Do notrush into any friendship with any boy.Pray for a steady life-partner.Ask Jesus for the person He has planned for you from thefoundations of the world.When you meet him, you willknow that he is the prince-charming, you have been waitingfor!

The joy of Bible study

I rejoice at Your word as onewho finds great treasure. Psalm119:162.

Imagine this hypotheticalsituation: You are asked to siftseveral tons of sand from one pileto another, by spooning it througha hand-held strainer. Without adoubt you would consider thatkind of a task to be futile and boring. However, what if youwere told that while doing thisyou were guaranteed to find agold nugget every hour, and asyou continued sifting through the pile you would begin findingthem every minute. In addition,whatever treasure you foundwould be yours to keep. Nolonger would the task seem futileor boring. The pile of sand wouldtake on a whole new meaning toyou because of the value that washidden within. The same analogycan be made of Bible study. Withvery little effort, great riches areours to discover and keep, as wecarefully sift through the Word of God each day. With access tosuch great spiritual treasure, wecan relate to the words the psalmist wrote in Psalm 119:162.

Exactly what kind of treasurecan we expect to find in theBible? I've heard Psalm 19:7-10rephrased by someone this way:"The revelation of God is wholeand pulls our lives together.
