A Brief Explanation of Some of the More Obscure References in the Preceding Poem

rident of SET refers to the triplicity of bodily elixirs which naturally occur in the human body. While the 'normal' (ie nonadept) human can be said to be either male or female (ie possessing either + or - genital elixir, but not both), the other two elixirs are not separated along such rigid lines. + and - are merely two modes of operation of which we are all fully capable.

hile both modes of a particular elixir are usually not in operation at the same moment of time within a particular individual, their deliberate interplay is at the root of all physiosexual magick. Adepts who regularly manipulate their own elixirs & who regularly partake of mixed or blended elixirs (prepared in conjunction with other adepts) become fully capable of any permutation of +/- in all of the three elixirs. It is only by this careful nurturing of all of the elixirs, in both modes, and on both the Dayside & Nightside of the Tree, that the rootlets can flourish & nourish the Rose. ore subtle uses of the Trident are left to the ingenuity of individual practitioners.
