This ASHRAE technical committee focuses on Mission Critical Facilities, Technology Spaces and Electronic

American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)

ASHRAE is a professional organization dedicated to the creation and promotion of quality-based standard
practices in the HVAC&R industry. Members have access to ASHRAE technical articles and conference papers.
Anyone can browse abstracts of ASHRAE\u2019s numerous books, journal articles and other technical publications that
are available for purchase.

Best Practices for Data Centers: Lessons Learned from Benchmarking 22 Data Centers
This paper by Steve Greenberg, Evan Mills, et al, was presented at the 2006 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy
Efficiency in Buildings. It presents the results of their benchmarking studies and describes best practices for the
operation and design of more efficient data centers.
Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE). Commercial HVAC Installation Guidelines

Both the Guidelines for Energy-Efficient Commercial Unitary HVAC Systems and the accompanying White Paper can be downloaded from the CEE\u2019s site. The Guidelines provide best practices, selection criteria, and details of components and systems. HVAC commissioning is also outlined and discussed.

This design guide from the CoolTools chilled water plants project can be downloaded from the publications

Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA)

ESDA promotes the theory and practice of electrostatic discharge avoidance through standards developments, educational programs, publications, and certification. Several of ESDA\u2019s standards are available for download at no charge.

Energy Design Resources. HVAC Design

EDR provides access to resources to facilitate and educate building professionals in the design and operation of energy efficient buildings. The HVAC Design category includes design briefs, guidelines, and design software tools that cover a variety of efficient HVAC design techniques and technologies.

Energy Smart Data Center. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

This is an overview of PNNL\u2019s Energy Smart Data Center project. This research project addresses data center\u2019s power generation, conversion, distribution and cooling issues. The overview includes links to technical papers on these topics.

High-Performance Buildings for High-Tech Industries. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

This site is a portal to an abundance of research information, Best Practice Guidelines, benchmarking tools, an annotated bibliography, technical papers, articles, and performance standards for energy efficient equipment and practices for high-tech facilities.

High Performance Data Centers: A Design Guidelines Sourcebook
This 63-page design guideline was developed by LBNL and PG&E. It addresses best practices and energy
efficient design of HVAC systems, humidity control, power supplies, self-generation, and UPS systems.
LEED\u2122 Green Building Rating System for New Construction & Major Renovations, ver. 2.2
This latest version of LEED\u2019s building rating system includes requirements for HVAC&R systems, ventilation for
indoor air quality and thermal comfort. A link to LEED for Existing Buildings is also included on this site.
National Building Controls Information Program (NBCIP)

NBCIP was established by the Iowa Energy Center and provides unbiased information on building control system products and strategies, including reports that describe the actual performance of products tested by the program. All publications on the site can be downloaded free of charge.

New Buildings Institute (NBI)

NBI promotes the building and operation of energy efficient buildings. NBI has produced many useful building guidelines, including guides to Absorption Chillers and Advanced VAV System Design. These guidelines are available for download.
