Laura Kalina is a registered Dietitian (RD) with a Masters degree in Adult Education and over 25 years of experience as a public health Dietitian in the area of food security and community development. She has written numerous books including Building Food Security in Canada: From Hunger to Sustainable Food Systems and the International best seller Low Glycemic Meals in Minutes. She is the founder of the Kamloops Food Policy Council (1st food policy council in Canada) and has championed numerous projects in her community including: community gardens and kitchens, Public Produce and Gleaning policy development, Gardengate Training Centre, Kamloops Food Share, and the Heartland Foods Co-Operative.
