    R.C. Bridgestock is the name that husband and wife co-authors Robert (Bob) and Carol Bridgestock write under. Between them they have nearly fifty years of police experience, offering an authentic edge to their stories. The writing duo created the character DI Jack Dylan, a down-to-earth detective, written with warmth and humour. Bob was a highly commended career detective of thirty years, retiring at the rank of Detective Superintendent. He was also a trained hostage negotiator dealing with suicide interventions, kidnap, terrorism and extortion. As a police civilian supervisor Carol also received a Chief Constable’s commendation for outstanding work.

      I really enjoyed this book! So much so that I was almost speed reading the last 20% of it as I was desperate to find out what happened. The main character Dylan is really good and I loved the relationship with his 'secret' partner Jen. Totally empathised with her frustration. Only a bloke could justify why the relationship had to be secret when both parties are free and single haha! The reason for the crimes was well disguised until almost the very end and well explained, so many books these days seem to give you a bizarre 'this is why he did it - the end. All the characters were well fleshed out, and the reactions of the relatives of the victims gave me pause. End was good when Dylan finally got his priorities right!Just off to get the second in the series.
