Mill Mountain Park
offers incredible mountain biking within 5 minutesof downtown Roanoke. The trails encompass Roanoke's highest point - thesummit of Mill Mountain (1703 ft.) and the Roanoke Star. This area offers500 acres of parkland atop Mill Mountain, picnic areas, two overlooks thatprovide 20-60 mile vistas, access to additional hiking trails, the MillMountain Zoo and the Mill Mountain Discovery Center.

Take I-581 to Elm Ave. / Rt. 24 (Exit 6)
Turn onto Elm Ave. (heading toward downtown)
Pass hospital on left and at next light turn left onto Jefferson.
Follow for ¼ mile and turn left onto Walnut
Follow Walnut through neighborhood and up mountain
As you approach top turn right toward Mill Mountain Zoo, Discovery Center, andStarAdd On
 
Have a picnic at the top, visit the Mill Mountain Zoo, and check out the MillMountain Discovery Center nature programs (540.853.2236)
