Based on the decision Cabinet Meeting on 8 July 2009 it was decided that the policy PPSMI be abolished in stages from 2012 for Year 1, Year 4, Form 1 and Form 4. Cabinet meeting on 5 August 2009 has agreed to implement the mechanism of "soft landing" for Taeaching & Learning of Science and Mathematics to help students overcome the policy shift.The soft landing mechanism is as follows:

Teaching & Learning of Science and Mathematics can be implemented in Equity began in 2010 in primary and secondary schools. Equity means the use of Bahasa Melayu and English in the teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics in the national school and secondary school, and use of native language and English for SJK (C) and SJK (T). (ii) Implementation of this policy began in 2012 for students from Year 1, Year 4, Form 1 and Form 4. However mechanism "soft landing" will give space to other students adjust to the transition policy in which Teaching and Learning can be implemented in Equity. Cohort-cohort involved are as follows:

a) Year 1 cohort (2009) - Equity can use up to 2014. (b) in cohort 1 (2010) - Equity can use up to 2015. (c) in cohort 1 (2011) - Equity can use up to 2016. (d) in cohort 1 (2009) - Equity can use up to 2013. (e) in cohort 1 (2010) - Equity can use up to 2014. (f) in cohort 1 (2011) - Equity can use up to 2015.

UPSR examination -Science and Metematik will continue to be implemented in Equity until 2016.
(b) for the PMR examination subjects of Science and Mathematics will continue to be implemented so that the Equity in 2013. (c) for the SPM examination for subjects of Science and Mathematics will continue to be implemented in Equity until 2015.

To Upholding Malay Language and Strentghening the Command of English which will be implemented by the Government starting in 2012 is a new policy which is part of the process of continuous improvement of education policy in our country.

Ministry

of Education is making preparations to implement this policy with the best possible without compromising the achievement of students who will be involved in the transition process later in 2012. A soft-landing approach will be taken to ensure the achievement of students who are following the teaching and learning Science and Mathematics under the policy PPSMI will not be affected.

The Ministry has also formed six Sub-Committee to prepare to implement this new policy. This committee is responsible for detailing the aspects of teacher training, curriculum, textbook provision, logistik, personnel and information. Through understanding, support and continuous efforts in all educators in making the new policy, we will be able to achieve the goal of improving the quality of education in our country on a continuous basis in the interest of the country's future.

Use English as language of teaching Science and Mathematics in primary and secondary schools to erode the importance of Bahasa Malaysia as the language of knowledge in the field. The use of Bahasa Malaysia as the language has been established for all subjects who initiated since the 1970s. Most countries in the world work hard to elevate the national language as their language knowledge.

Beginning with the Year One, Year Four, Form One and Form Four. At the same time used in Chinese and Tamil in SJKC /SJKT. Changes do not involve the Form Six and matriculation. Changes fully take 3 years Starting in 2012.
Science and Mathematics for the SPM examination in dual language until 2015

Provide adequate teacher BI through recruitment of teachers retired, teachers from abroad and from other private and public consumption through IPGM.
Provide teachers outside the norms of two BI teachers for each class high enrolmen (eg, more than 35 students). Provide English language reading material.

Introduce language arts in English R & D.

Teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics in Bahasa Malaysia in Form One to Five in SK and SMK and while Chinese in SJKC and Tamil in SJKT.
Adding time in teaching and learning of Bahasa Melayu in SJKC SJKT Using teaching and learning of ICT in Bahasa Melayu. Provide reading materials in Bahasa Melayu. Introduce language arts in teaching and learning of English.
