Using Instructional Aids For a lesson to be effectively taught, the teacher must consider the medium through which the message is to be conveyed. Teacher can made teaching more effective through the various media at her disposal. Using variety of instructional will help; Maintain the interest of students Involve various sensory channels such as seeing, hearing or touching so that learning takes place In deciding what instructional materials should be used the following things should be considered; The content of lessons to be taught The availability, cost and effectiveness of the materials

Examples of instructional aids Using blackboard/whiteboard It is the central feature of most classrooms. It is useful for Presenting material relevant to the particular stage of the lesson Illustrating or exemplifying key explanations

While using blackboard, make sure; Our writing is legible and visible to the whole class Material is presented in organized manner.

Using other visual aids Visual aids such as wall charts, puppets and pictures are useful because; Help students focus their attention on what is being taught Can be used as means of expressing understanding

2. By using questioning technique. Questions help to: 1. Actively involve students in the lessons 2. Arouse students interest and curiosity 3. Focus attention on particular point or concept 4. Encourage students to form and express ideas based on what is discussed and 5. Encourage students to form the habit of asking questions The number and type of questions you ask helps increase the amount of student talk in the classroom. It also encourage the pupils to participate the student to involve in the lessons, contributing their experiences, opinion and perspective in relation to the topic being discuss in the lessons.
