Introduction
Infectiousdiseaseshavebeenaroundsincetheprehistoricperiod.EvenduringtheMiddleAges,wellbeforetheadventofmodernmedicine,societyhadawaytoaddresstheissue:quarantine.Keepingthoseinfected(orpotentiallyinfected)individualsawayfromthegeneralpopulationhasalwaysworked.Intoday'sinterconnectedworld,we'rebeginningtounderstandthattoeffectivelyaddresspublichealthissueslikeswinefluandSARS,wemayneedtoperiodicallylimitcontactamongthegeneralpopulation.ThatmeansthatpublichealthofficialsmayaskthatyouremployeesNOTshowupforwork.Asabusinessowner,youneedtohaveaplantodealwiththatpossibility.
