MICDS Mission Statement:
More than ever our nation needs responsible men and women who can meet thechallenges of this world with confidence and embrace all its people with compassion.The next generation must include those who think critically and resolve to stand for what is good and right.Our School cherishes academic rigor, encourages and praises meaningful individual achievement, and fosters virtue. Our independent education prepares young people for higher learning and for lives of purpose and service.
Implicit in the MICDS Mission Statement is an imperative to prepare students to excel inour 21st century world and, therefore, to teach students 21st century skills. At MICDS weare committed to integrating these 21st century skills within our curriculum.
MICDS 21st Century Skills
The library and technology services departments work to ensure that students understandthe following 21st century skills so that they can graduate as responsible and independentlearners. Students should aspire to understand and utilize the following:
Digital Citizenshipand Personal Learning Networks
Students should understand how to identify and frame problems; find information andevaluate it for authenticity and reliability; adhere to ethical use stemming from anunderstanding of intellectual property and copyright; and be intelligent readers andconsumers of information in a variety of mediums.

Students should understand what an online identity is and how to protect it; act andinteract ethically and responsibly in an online environment; and understand how to createand benefit from an online network whether it is for educational or social purposes.
