Ephemera for Piano

When choosing a title, there are endless possibilities.
The task of choosing a small number of words to
describe your music is very daunting, and by the time
you find a good idea you may have considered many
other ideas before realizing that the final title had been
one of your earliest thoughts.
Music in which the notes go by quickly, where no time
is given to contemplate what has just passed, is similar
to the human thought process. Before you can
comprehend what you just heard, the piece has already
moved on to the next note. As such, there is no written
record of what has passed, and its existence ends with
the performance.
Ephemera have no desire to be permanent. They exist
for just a moment, spanning the journey between
beginning and end.

Performance Notes
Pedal markings are not indicated, except for the last measure.
Pedal freely to ensure the best clarity of sound and smoothness
of the texture. I tend to use a lot of pedal to achieve both of
those, but the performer should interpret the piece how they see
fit. In the last measure, it is important to use the pedal to capture
both the G natural and G sharp, so the marking there is
deliberate.
In the middle sections, a fermata over a tremolo means that you
should hold the tremolo for longer than the beat written. When
coming out of a tremolo with a fermata, the tempo should return
to normal immediately.
Feel free to phrase the piece how you see fit. What is written is
how I felt the phrasing should be. Other interpretations are
welcome.
