STAGES OF THE LESSON
STAGE ONE
Ss are asked to pick up a card on which there are written seasons of the year and
months of the year. Each season has to find its months. This is a way to organise the
class in groups according to the season and the corresponding months of the year.
Divided like this, Ss will work throughout the whole class.
Ss are asked to repeat the seasons and the months of the year. They are also asked to
say which their favourite season is and why.
Whats the weather like in spring/summer/autumn/winter?
They are said that today they will learn to describe the weather for each season and in
the end they will be able to write a weather forecast for their town/country.
STAGE TWO
Ss are shown a set of pictures which describe weather and they have to identify types
of weather (its sunny, its cloudy, its rainy, its windy, its foggy, etc). The new
vocabulary is also written on the blackboard and the Ss write it in their notebooks.
Then they are asked to complete a worksheet in which they have to identify the
weather vocabulary in a word search, match the pictures with the words and seasons
with their description using the weather vocabulary. Ss work individually and then
they check their answers with their partner and then to another pair.
STAGE THREE
Students are given a second worksheet and the teacher explains the tasks.
When they finish the tasks, they are asked to complete the carboard spidergram by
sticking the words according to their sentence structure (see worksheet).

Then in groups they have to solve the second exercise using the words from
the exercise they have already done. They check it with the other groups and then
with the teacher.
STAGE FOUR
Ss are asked to look at the UK map. They point to England, Scotland, Wales,
Northern Ireland and they also point to some important cities in these countries.
T asks Ss where they can find out more about what the weather will be like.
(from TV, newspaper, etc).
Ss receive a third worksheet with a list of cities in the UK. The teacher
explains that they are going to listen to a weather forecast, but they only have to write
down the weather words and the numbers they hear associated with the cities on their
worksheets. Ss work in groups and they fill in the grid with the correct information
about the weather in each town.
Ss are shown a set of weather symbols and they have to explain what words
they symbolize (fog, rain, wind, etc). T explains that they will have to listen to the
weather forecast again and use the appropriate weather symbol for each city. They are
asked to reproduce the weather description for each city\town.
HOMEWORK
Individually, Ss will have to do a project about weather in their town/country. For the
following week, they will have to observe the weather and to write a weather forecast,
describing the weather, using pictures and other materials.
