Facilities Management Report for July, August and September 2009
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library
New energy lighting is being installed in the children’s area as well as otherareas on the 2
nd
and 3
rd
floors.
Upgrading of fire alarm devices has been completed on the fourth floor.
Replacement of cooling coils with new draining pans in the stairway landingsof the fourth floor has been completed.
Engineers are experiencing problems with the number 2 chiller; we plan toaccess the chiller during the off season.
Two small fractures have been discovered in two windows of the PopularLibrary on the first floor; we will keep a close watch on the condition of thesewindows.
Window washing for the entire building has been completed for the secondtime this year.
A broken window on the fourth floor in the Facilities Department has beenreplaced.
New dampers were installed for duct work in the Executive Office Suite; thiswork made it possible to better control cooling during the summer months.
All routine preventive maintenance was completed during the months of Julyand August.
Neighborhood Libraries
A new controls system was installed at Lamond-Riggs along with newsuspended ceiling, duct insulation and roof repairs to eliminate the ceilingleaks that were on-going for some time.
Facilities management has completed the re-keying project for allneighborhood libraries.
Restroom doors (2) were replaced at Southwest to help meet ADArequirements.
Repair work was completed on the wooden decks at Anacostia, Benning andW.T. Daniels Interims.
New ceiling, duct work, and energy lighting has been installed at ClevelandPark. DCPL painters also painted the entire 1
st
floor.
The boiler at Capitol View has been replaced with the boiler fromGeorgetown.
