Road Closures and Traffic Patterns Effecting Downtown Jacksonville on Saturday, February 22, 2014
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2014)
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office takes its
public safety responsibilities seriously. This news release is intended to inform residents and visitors to our community of the safety measures and traffic patterns that will be in  place for events in downtown Jacksonville on Saturday, February 22, 2014, including the Advance Auto Parts Monster Truck Jam.
Advance Auto Parts Monster Truck Jam at EverBank Field
Monster Truck Rides: 12 p.m.
Pit Party: 1:30 p.m.
 5 p.m.
Gates Open at: 5 p.m.
Show starts at: 7 p.m.
Anyone dropping off fans, or picking up fans after the event, should do so at Georgia Street between Adams Street and Duval Street. This is behind the Baseball Grounds, on the west side of EverBank Field.
No parking will be allowed on Bay Street starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The roadway will be in a two eastbound lanes/two westbound lanes traffic pattern.
Inbound Traffic:
Inbound Traffic patterns pre-event do not restrict access to any Downtown/Sports complex venue.
Starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Bay Street will have three lanes eastbound and one lane westbound.
Signage will be posted in the downtown area to direct event traffic to  parking lot locations for parking.
Pre-event drop off location will be on Georgia Street (between Adams Street and Duval Street) this is the same location or post event pick-up.
JSO/Monster Truck Jam Traffic Patterns/Add One
 Outbound Traffic:
Starting at approximately 9 p.m., Gator Bowl Boulevard at Festival Way (WJCT) will be one-way north bound.
Starting at approximately 9 p.m., Bay Street/Gator Bowl Boulevard starting a
t Lot “J” exit will be one
-way westbound.
There will be one way traffic patterns away from the complex post event for 45-minutes to one hour.
If you are planning to pick-up passengers post event:
Please park on Georgia Street* before 8:45 p.m. at the designated  pick-up location.
(*This location is directly behind the baseball  grounds on Georgia Street between Adams Street and Duval Street)
If you cannot arrive before 8:45 p.m. the only pick-up location available will be at Adams Street and A. Phillip Randolph beside the small garage next to the Arena.
The last resort is to coordinate passenger pick-up to wait approximately one hour post event when the traffic patterns return to normal.
Taxi drop off and pick up is located at the North End of the stadium, near Gate 3.
Additional Tips:
(Especially important if you are not familiar with downtown Jacksonville)
If you are able to, Monster Truck fans are encouraged to pick-up their tickets from the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena Box Office prior to Saturday, February 22.
Arrive early, we recommend
hours early
; traffic is expected to be slow.
There is very little PRE-PAID parking on event day. A map of parking lots near the stadium is available at
. Please remember to bring cash to pay for parking. Prices will vary depending on the lot.
If you do have a pre-paid parking pass please have it visible to assist officers with getting you to your designated parking area.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Florida Alcoholic Beverages and
Tobacco enforcement agents will be working this event with a focus on underage drinking.
Beaver Street and Monroe Street are underutilized; if you are parking on the west side of the stadium, these streets will get you to the parking garages and all the lots on the west side of the stadium.
No streets will be closed in the sports complex before the start of the Monster Truck Jam. Sign boards will direct drivers into the appropriate lanes for designated lots.
Fans should try to cross the bridge into downtown that is closest to their  parking space not the bridge most convenient to their origination point.
JSO/Monster Truck Jam Traffic Patterns/Add Two For example: if you leave from San Marco and your parking pass is for Lot C, do not take the Main Street Bridge. Instead take the Hart Bridge and enter the stadium area that way. It will save time spent in traffic on the downtown side of the bridge.
Maps and tips regarding inbound and outbound traffic are available at
