PeaceWeaver Organic Community Farm
We invite you to become a member of our Community Supported Agriculture program.
What is Community Supported Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is a great way to buy local organic produce and tosupport a local, healthy, sustainable food system. CSA's bring farmers, community members, andagricultural land together into a mutually beneficial relationship. Community members purchase a“farm share” for the growing season which entitles them to a share of the farm’s harvest each week.By purchasing a share, members are willing to share not only the bounty the land, but also the risksand pleasures of growing the food. Farmers benefit by having a guaranteed “market” for their produce and a more consistent income.Membership in a CSA supports individuals and families in a variety of ways.
Farm shares
offer a much wider variety of organic produce
than supermarkets
CSA farm produce is fresher and more nutritiou
s than supermarket produce
Being a member of a CSA lightens your ecological footprint on the planet
Ingredients for the average meal travel 1,500 miles from “field to fork” – 25% farther than 20 yearsago. Thus, cooking with food from the supermarket uses seventeen times more fossil fuels thanmaking a meal from local ingredients. In addition, belonging to a CSA you also gain the following:1) the knowledge of where your produce comes from and how it is grown; 2) new connectionswith other ecologically-minded people in our region; and 3) hands-on experience with growingfood organically.
How Our CSA Works
Working share members come to the farm
once per week
to help plant, weed, harvest, and takehome their share of that week's produce. We will be getting together on
Monday evenings 5 pm – 7pm
and
Thursday mornings 10 am - Noon.
If you are not interested in a working share, we have alimited amount of non-working shares. Non-working share members pay extra and simply come onMonday after 7pm or Thursday after noon to pick up their produce. Because we have limitedrefrigeration, we ask people to come at that time so their food remains fresh. Our harvest season runsfrom
June thru October.
Our first farm days will be
Monday, June 2nd
and
Thursday, June 5
th
.
