Benefit for Ellie Smiley

Five year old Ellie Smiley was diagnosed with
Clear Cell Meningioma, a malignant brain tumor, in
May of 2009. After facial weakness that had gotten
worse, a hearing test that showed moderately severe
hearing loss in her right ear and an MRI that detected a
mass in her brain, Ellie was in front of surgeons at the
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
After a second MRI the surgeons recommended it be
removed by surgery then eventually undergo 33 ses-
sions of radiation. Ellie had surgery on May 18th and
they were able to remove the tumor but it left her deaf
in one ear and with right side facial paralysis. There
will be a future surgery that can help her move her
face a little more. Ellie has completed radiation and
we are happy to say she is doing well!
We are thankful the Lord has carried us through
this to see Ellie start kindergarten and hopefully many
years free from future tumors. He is an amazing
healer and has blessed us with a wonderful support
system of family, friends and professionals. We hope
