WEARING RED FOR BROOK

BY SASHA PRICE & EMILY EDWARDS

BICKERTON GETS ARTY!

BY LIBBY HODKINSON

In April, we had a nonschool uniform day to raise money for the Brook Hill Foundation. Brook used to come to our school and he unfortunately had an accident whilst skiing in France. We all had to dress up in red because thats his favourite colour and we all brought money in for a collection to raise money; we also sold bands and broaches. The bands said on them Brook Hill Foundation: live life to the full. The money will help other children who have had serious head injuries. Were all glad that Brook has made such a massive recovery!

The Bickerton School hall was turned in to an art gallery on 18th June with lots of different art pictures created by the children. Each class had done great pictures including flowers, Tudor houses and black silhouettes. (Well done everyone! What amazing artists we have at Bickerton! - Editor)

Even the Beeches pre-school children did a picture! All the pictures were in a frame and they looked great. Lots of people came to look at the art and you could even buy the pictures to keep. Everyone loved the art exhibition!

For example, Zoe got Italy and Sasha got Greece. Then what we had to do is find out about the map, the flag, tourism, food and drink and more. Mr Rich said he was not giving us ideas so we got on with it. We worked non-stop It was a great idea! Thank you and we loved it! Mr Richs brain!

Class 5 entertained the whole school with their fantastic end of year play! It was called Cinderella and Rockerfella and it was really good and funny! It was just like a panto. Sophie and Jess held up cards telling us when to boo and when to hiss and go hooray or say things like ahhh, shes behind you and oh yes she is! Amelia was Cinderella and Ewan was Rockerfella. Ross and Jacob dressed up as the ugly sisters!! There were a few really funny bits like when Goldie (the evil cat) got put in a sack and taken of stage by Becky (Teaser the dog). We had the chance to try on Tudor clothes and try to do some Tudor sewing patterns. After lunch, we went into the garden and sketched the building. VIVE LA FRANCE!
BY THOMAS BEASLEY-EADES
Mr Rich and Mr. Sweetnam have both recently been to France! Mr Sweetnam went for a course. We asked him some questions to find out more! Why did you go to France? I went to France to learn good ways to teach French in our school, and to improve my French. I also wanted to try to make a link with a French school so we can do some joint projects together. I succeeded in both of these aims. I also wanted to come up with ways of getting French going at Bickerton and I think I now know what to do. How long did it take to get there? Not too long. I was there a bit after lunchtime on the Saturday, so only about 6 hours in total. What did you enjoy most about your visit? First, I really enjoyed getting better at French, talking with lots of French people and being immersed in French culture. I also loved visiting Toulouse what a beautiful town. I would like to go back there! Have you learnt any new French? Yes, loads! I had a wonderful French teacher

in Carcassonne who helped me to get my French more up-to-date. She was brilliant. She knew the parts of the language I would find difficult and helped me with those. Mr. Rich went to France to do drumming with the police band as part of the D-day commemorations. He told us Its 3 days of solid playing but I loved it! It was very different to England though. They both had a great time in France. We are looking forward to learning more French next year!

BY ZOE VAUGHAN The Deanery Sports took place this year at Taporley High School and there were 14 different primary schools from the local area taking part. There were lots of events including egg and spoon, sprint, sack, obstacle, skipping, high jump and long jump. The races are done in year groups. This year, the whole event was organised by Bickerton, so Mrs Parsons, Mr Innes and Mrs Chesworth even had to mark out the field themselves! Overall, we came 2nd out of 14 schools, which is brilliant! Mrs Parsons said I couldnt

have been prouder of Bickerton School! Behaviour was excellent and performance was outstanding! Thanks to everyone who took part or helped.
