Information about Project GutenbergInformation prepared by the Project Gutenberg legal advisorThis Is The Project Gutenberg Etext of The Hackers' Dictionary. *****This file should be named jargn10.txtor jargn10.zip******Corrected EDITIONS of our etexts get a new NUMBER, jargn11.txt. VERSIONS based on separate sourcesget new LETTER, jargn10a.txt.This choice was made by popular demand for this date, due to the massive influx of new students and a newpaper publication. Our normal choice would be not to release two reference texts in the same month other thanfor this demand, which appears to be in an extreme position at the moment as we are also receiving requestsfor zip and area code directories.Another request we have received is to put the introductory part of reference works at the end, so that thereference work itself begins with the main body of the work itself, after the shortest possible introduction as tohow to use it so the instruction set does not have to be gone past to get to the body each time. You are invitedto send your suggestions on this. If we get enough, we will re-release this file, with the lengthydocumentations at the end of the file contained herein.Project Gutenberg is working on creating a simple, childlike (if you will) network guide, "A Child's Garden of the Internet." If you have any suggestions for inclusions, and/or could take a few minutes to write a "TenMinute Tutorial" on any subject you feel worthwhile. These should be directed at the absolute novices of thenetworks, and should presume little or no previous knowledge (we are even including how to control-c in eachtutorial, as the tutorials are each supposed to be a stand alone event taking the nominal "Ten Minutes" toexpose the novices to a particular part of the networks, or to a particular resource. . .even if that is a resourcedirected at other resources, such as Gopher, Prospero and others. This could be an easy way to get your namein print in both etext and paper publishing, as we had hardly announced A Child's Garden before we wereapproached for paper publishing.
