Street dance is a very popular form of dance in westernworld. However, it is yet to make a grand entry in Indiandance culture, though street dancing is slowly makingits roots in India.Street dancing’s real name is vernacular dance.Vernacular means instinctive, so it’s real name isinstinctive dancing. The origin of street dance can notbe traced to any particular era. It is not any trained andrevised form of dance. It basicallysymbolizes all thosedance styles which originated and evolved ineveryday life places including streets,nightclubs, playgrounds, schools etc. It wasnot promoted or discovered in a dance studio.The best feature of street dance is theimprovisation. There are no fixed dancemoves in street dancing; rather it focuses ondancer's own improvisation. Street dance isquite social in nature and promotes contact and interaction with spectators tomake it even more fun.Street dance was first seen in USA in the 1970s. Street dance is an interestingand energetic amalgamation of many hip hops and funk dance styles. Other dance forms like house dance, locking, popping etc are also a part of the samemovement of which street dance originated. Street dance is very popular in manyparts of the world because of diverse uses. It is also used as a physical educationin many western schools. With thepassage of time, it has become morepopular even with established dancestudios.Street dance finds its motivation in fightagainst violent gangster activities. Ituses moves like rigorous hand, clappinghands, head movements and stompingfeet which help in releasing anger,frustration and aggression.
