Academic Advising
The purpose of academic advising is to provide academic support for students in theaccomplishment of their educational goals, while ensuring that the academic standards of KGSMare upheld. KGSM Online provides academic advisors which are available to students bytelephone Monday-Friday, 7am-8pm (CST). They can be reached at 877-496-9050 or by going tothe website http://help.keller.edu. Advisors can inform and advise students in making variousacademic decisions assist in preventing academic problems, help to resolve academic issues,and administering the academic appeal process. Students should become well acquainted withtheir academic advisors as this is a system which can support the steady improvement of youracademic performance and satisfaction.
Academic Dismissal
Students are dismissed from their program for failure to make Satisfactory Academic Progress(SAP). Students who are dismissed may petition for re-admission. Re-admission will not begranted without strong evidence of a change in the student’s ability to satisfactorily fulfill programrequirements or until twelve months have passed since the date of dismissal. Students requestingre-admission must submit a dismissal appeal form, with valid supporting documentation within 7business days of dismissal notification. Students should contact their academic advisor for moreinformation on SAP dismissal procedures.
Academic Honors
A student graduating with a CGPA of 3.7 or higher is determined to be a Graduate withDistinctions
Academic Probation
Students are placed on academic probation when they do not meet the required SatisfactoryAcademic Progress criteria. Generally, the student will remain on probation until their next term iscompleted; at which time, another academic evaluation will be made. When students are placedon academic probation, they must contact their academic advisor for mandatory probationadvisement.
Academic Progress
KGSM has established standards of academic progress as an integral part of its goal to fosterstudent success. Each student must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress towardsgraduation from their program of study. KGSM uses qualitative standards including grade pointaverages, grades, and academic performance, and quantitative standards including rate ofprogress (credits attempted versus credits earned), as well as, the student must meet bothqualitative and quantitative standards in order to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. Astudent who does not meet these standards in one or more areas is subject to academicprobation and/or dismissal.
Attendance and Make-up Policies
Each student is expected to participate in the classes in which he or she is enrolled. Participationis an important component of grading. Failure to enter a course during the first two weeks ofattendance will cause a student to be dropped from the course. Policies on participation andmake-up work vary by individual course, and are stated in the syllabus for the particular course.
Career Services
