As a parent, you may enjoy Halloween as much as your kids. However, when it comes to the kids asking to host a Halloween party, you may bestricken with a fear and dread that would make a zombie burstingthrough the front door seem like a friendly visit.Maybe these feelings are brought on because of a lack of confidence or just not knowing what to do to make a party successful. If the kids areyoung, it could be the idea of trying keeping an eye on everyone.
Regardless of the reason, you don’t have to dre
ad hosting a Halloweenparty for your kids, or even your own friends. Here are a few tips to takethe fear out and put the success in.
1.

Encourage parents to stay.
This gives you an extra pair of eyes
and hands to help out. You’ll also feel a bit more relaxe
d knowing
that you have backup and it’s not just you against “them.”

2.

Plan for a variety of activities.
During different times of theparty,
you’ll want to get things moving, slow things down, or wind
things up before going home. If you have a variety of activities and
games on hand, you won’t be stuck wondering how to get the kids
excited or calm them down a bit.
 3.

Consider having the party outside.
If you have a fenced in yardor another large safe area available, think about having a majorityof the party o
utdoors. This makes cleanup super easy and you don’thave to try and keep the kids out of “off
-
limits” rooms. It also adds
a spooky feel to the atmosphere if the party begins just beforedusk.
