The Cronkite Award for Excellence in Exploration and Journalism Reach the World was honored to include Mr. Walter Cronkite as the Chairman of its founding Advisory Board. Mr. Cronkite was not only one of the worlds leading journalists, but also a great explorer and adventurer. Each year, Reach the World gives the Cronkite Award for Excellence in Exploration and Journalism in honor of Mr. Cronkites memory to an individual whose life and work exemplifies this intersection between exploration and journalism. 2014 Honoree: Ronan Farrow Ronan Farrow is an activist, journalist, lawyer and U.S. government advisor. Farrow began his involvement with global youth and humanitarian issues as a UNICEF Spokesperson for Youth in 2001. In 2009, he joined the U.S. government as Special Adviser for Humanitarian and NGO Affairs for Afghanistan and Pakistan. In 2011, Farrow was appointed Director of the State Department's Office of Global Youth Issues. Farrow concluded his term in 2012, and began a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University. Beginning in February 2014, Farrow will host a weekday show on MSNBC. Conditions The official spokespeople for Reach the World are Heather Halstead, Executive Director, and Grant Vingoe, Partner at Norton Rose Fulbright LLC and Board Chairman. The theme of the evening is global education and service. All press are required to stay strictly on message. Any press who ask guests or Mr. Farrow about off-message topics will be immediately escorted out of the event.
