Brethren: The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control – against which there is no law. Andthose who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we Live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, or envying each other. Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are Spiritual must restore such a one in a Spirit of Gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfil the Law of Christ.

At that time, our Lord Jesus Christ said:
“Take heed that you do not do your Charitable Deeds before others – to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no Reward from your Father in Heaven. “Therefore, when you do a Charitable Deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the Synagogues and in the streets, so that they may receive the glory from mankind. “Truly, I say to you: they have their reward.

“But when you do a Charitable Deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your Charitable Deed may be in secret, and your Father Who sees in secret will Himself Reward you openly. “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the Synagogues, and on the corners of the streets, so that they be seen by others. “Truly, I say to you: they have their reward. “But you – when you pray – go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father Who is in the Secret Place; and your Father Who sees in secret will Reward you openly. “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. “Therefore, do not be like them. For your Father knows the things that you have need of before you ask Him. “In this manner, therefore, pray: ‘Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily Bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory forever. Amen.’”

. Prayer and Fasting, the Church-oriented Life of the Parish, a Life of Liturgy: Orthodoxy holds these as the primary ways of effecting Rebirth in Her people. The Parish - the Parish Community - must be Regenerated and in Christ-like and Brotherly Love must Minister humbly to Him and to all people, Meek and Lowly and in a Spirit of Sacrifice and Self-denial. And such Service must be imbued and nourished  by Prayer and Liturgical Life. This much is ground-work and indispensible. But to this end there exists one prerequisite: that our Bishops, Priests, and our Monks become Ascetics themselves. That this might be, then: let us beseech the Lord.

Brethren: you know what Hour it is - that now is the exact time to awaken out of sleep - for now our Salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the Day is at hand! Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the Armour of Light. Let us walk properly, as in the Day – not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy - but put on our Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh – to fulfil its lusts. Receive those who are weak in the Faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things, for one believes he may eat all things, yet he who is weak, eats only vegetables. And let those who eat not despise those who do not eat, and let those who do not eat, not judge those who do eat; for God has received them. Who are you to judge Another’s servant? Before his own Master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
