1.
Finding the RIGHT Dealership AND Salesperson to deal with.
Dealing with the right dealership and salesperson is the foundation to the wholepurchasing process. How the dealership treats you should be a key factor in where youend up buying. Do they WANT your business? Do they want to KEEP your business? Dothe owners strive to keep their dealership the best it can be? You can tell by dealing withthe service writers, salespeople and everyone else who you come in contact with at thedealership.
SERVICE DEPARTMENT:
I recommend that while shopping for your next vehicle thatyou consider where you will probably end up servicing the vehicle. Go ahead and take atour of the facility while you are there. How many technicians do they have? Is theservice department easy to deal with? Can you get in easy? Do they have hours of operation that are convenient for you? If need be can you get a loaner? And of courseare they good at finding the problem and fixing it? Do they offer a “Best Price”commitment? (By the way we do.)
DEALERSHIP:
You can learn a lot about a company by looking at what others had tosay that went before you. As you walk through our dealership, you will see thePresident’s Award logo proudly displayed (also on the first page of our website – topright corner). While this symbol is a tangible mark of the dealership’s passion for excellence, it is through your interactions with our staff that you will experience the truespirit of the President’s Award. You will find it in our willingness to go the extra step. Youwill witness it in our genuine concern for your needs. You will discover it in our professional treatment of you and your vehicle throughout your ownership experience. You will see the difference that sets an award-willing dealership apart from the rest. It isa difference you can count on – now and down the road.
SALESPERSON:
The only reason “bad” salespeople exist is because people buy fromthem to save a couple of bucks. Please don’t perpetuate the problem of unprofessionalsalespeople by buying from someone who didn’t earn your business just to save a fewdollars. After you purchased your last vehicle did you ever hear from your salesperson?Did your salesperson insist on the vehicle fulfilling your wants and needs? Have youever purchased a vehicle only to find out the salesman made promises that he/shewouldn’t keep or find out later that they flat out lied to you? Although the stereotypesexist for a reason, some salespeople are genuine and honestly care about the customer. Please make sure that your next salesperson truly deserves the sale by the way theyserve you.
Questions to ponder?
a)Is the level of service after the sale important to me?b)If I buy from the “cheapest”, I might save some, but what does it cost me?c)Whether it’s a couch, T.V. or vehicle… what makes a good salesperson to me?
HOT TIP
: If you don’t have a salesperson you can trust, ASK AROUND. Do you have arelative, friend, co-worker or neighbor who has been happy with a particular source?Find a salesperson you can trust and who WANTS your business and goes out of hisway to KEEP your business. They are harder to find but they are out there so askaround. You DON’T have to deal with someone you don’t like!

2. What do you need your new vehicle to accomplish for you?
Be very careful in choosing your next vehicle because it is a big investment and if youpick the wrong one it will cost you more than just money. It’s very hard to trade out of your vehicle if you haven’t had it very long so there are some important things toconsider so you don’t end up regretting your purchase.
Style
– Do I want sporty, luxurious, rugged, smart, artistic, classic or fun looks?
Utility
– What are my lifestyle needs and current driving habits?
Value
– Do I spend more upfront and get more in residual value or go economical?
Performance
– What is adequate power and handling compared to fuel economy?
Safety
– Do I want passive and active safety features to protect my family?
Car Shoppers:
Make sure the car is going to provide you with enough room to put your stuff in and has enough legroom for everyone. It’s a real bummer when you find out thecar seat doesn’t fit in right or the kids don’t have enough leg room in the back. Also makesure to ask the salesperson about any safety features your current car may not havesuch as ABS and Side Curtain Airbags. Remember, you don’t have to buy today so shopand compare. The right vehicle will click with all your major needs and wants. Don’t getbullied or threatened into buying something that doesn’t quite work. Sometimes it’s worthit to pay a little extra to get nicer features… after all you will get some of that money backin resale and as they say “You deserve it”.
Truck Shoppers:
You could wind up an unhappy truck owner if you haven’t thoughtcarefully about how many people and how much gear you need to carry. As well, whenselecting a truck, you need to consider what you are really going to pack for payload –why endure the rough ride of a three quarter ton when all you need is a half ton?Ask yourself, what are you really going to use this truck for? Diesel engines are great for power, but they cost a lot! Sure if you are to go with a gas engine – a big block V8, youwill burn more fuel, but how much fuel can you burn for the $5000 in price?
Questions to ponder?
a)What do I like about my current car I want the new one to have?b)What don’t I like about my current car?c)What’s the main thing I need the vehicle to accomplish?d)Am I willing to spend a little more to get what I really want?
HOT TIP
: It’s easy to get excited once you get to the dealership and see all theshinny cars lined up. Before you show up ask yourself the questions listed above. Its okay to get excited and once you find the right vehicle and a nice andknowledgeable salesperson… you should be excited! Just be prepared too. It’s asad thing to hear that someone unprepared bought from an inconsideratesalesperson and now they are financially obligated for the next several years tosomething that doesn’t fill their need or fulfill their wants. Don’t let that be you.For more information please visit:www.himehonda.comor call (816) 699 - 0926
