14MONTHLY LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE
“The Independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it islinked up to the total liberation of Africa.” - Dr. KwameNkrumah (March 6th, 1957)This month we celebrate our country’s Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of independence. We should remember that the Jubilee year is a time ofjoy, forgiveness of debts and universal pardon. It is ofcourse a time to celebrate, but the Jubilee should alsoprompt us to reflect on where we’ve come from andwhere we’re heading, to ponder the past and plan forthe future. Here at Enjoy Accra, we have decided to use this Marchissue to write about Ghana’s political leaders, a non-exhaustive list tapping into the past and the present.Inside, readers will also find tourist highlights aroundthe country, a tour of Ghanaian music, from highlife tohiplife, and a snapshot of the country’s economicstrengths and weaknesses. We round the edition up with a story about a freeeducation centre for aspiring young artists in Accra; ifanything represents Ghana’s bright future, it is itschildren.Happy 50th Anniversary to Ghana.Enjoy! When we conceivedthe idea of extendingour operations toAfrica, it was notdifficult to make achoice as to whichcountry to go to. Thetraditional hospitalityof Ghana, as anirresistible place to dobusiness, wasconfirmed the very daywe arrived in 2000.We found, and still find, the business climate here inGhana very conducive and friendly so we decided to stayon, and with the benefit of hindsight, we are glad we did!!As the Government and people of Ghana celebrate 50years of nationhood, we at GRAFITEC LTD cannot help butfeel the spirit of joy, goodwill and friendliness. We have ahuge sense of pride for coming to Ghana and we feel evenmore proud to be part of the Ghana@50 celebrations. The challenges of nationhood notwithstanding, Ghanacontinues to occupy an enviable position in the comity ofnations in Africa and indeed the world at large. The recentelection of His Excellency, the President John AgyekumKufour to the Presidency of African Union, the two termelection of Dr. Kofi Annan to the high position of UNSecretary General as well as the various roles Ghanacontinue to play in international issues and peace keepingmissions are ample testimony to this.We are of the opinion that Ghanaians ought to be andjustifiably proud of their achievements.Permit us once again, to wish His Excellency the PresidentJohn Agyekum Kufour and the good people of Ghana ahappy Ghana @ 50 Celebrations.HAPPY ANNIVERSARY AND LONG LIVE GHANA!!!
