Columbia Basin College is one of Pasco’sbiggest institutions both physically andeconomically. It employs six hundredpeople and serves over 7,000 peopleevery academic quarter. The higher education landscape ischanging around the Tri-Cities. WSU-Tri-Cities now offers full four-year
programs and CBC will initiate its rst
full four-year program next September.Could the day come when a student
might take their rst two years of higher
education at WSU-Tri-Cities, then trans-fer to CBC to complete a bachelor’sdegree? Not likely, but not impossible…A lot that was taken for granted aboutthe role of each institution is no longernecessarily accurate. The future of Columbia Basin Collegeis the subject of this month’s PascoChamber of Commerce luncheon meetingat 11:30
AM
on Monday, October 13th, atthe Pasco Red Lion Hotel. CBC Presi-dent Rich Cummins will outline some of the school’s strategy for the future anddiscuss some of the steps down that pathto be taken in the near future.Cummins joined the Columbia BasinCollege staff in 1990 as a member of the English faculty. He moved to theadministrative staff in 1996, working withthe school’s technology and the distance

To assure that a prospect returns acall is almost impossible. However,I have few ideas for you in Little Miracle#87,
The Watering Hole.
Everyone has a professional they needto meet. Some executives will not returnyour phone calls. Everyone you need tomeet has a favorite watering hole. Searchfor events that they frequent. I have foursuggestions:1. Charities they support2. Associations to which they belong3. After-hours social affairs4. Their favorite attitude-adjustment pubI have a lot of people who don’treturn my calls. Is this normal? How can I get to talk to them?

The Pasco Chamber Changing with the Times
Ryan Brault, PresidentPasco Chamber of Commerce
Hello! My name is Ryan Brault and I amthe 2008-2009 President of the Pasco
Chamber of Commerce. I am a nancial
advisor with Edward Jones. My home—
and family, of course—and ofce are all
here in Pasco. This is an exciting time to step up tobeing a part of the leadership team forthe Pasco Chamber. There is a great dealof momentum from the last year andas we move into the 4th quarter of thisyear I am looking forward to continuedgrowth in membership and improvementin the services that we offer.I am happy to welcome our new boardmembers and I thank them in advancefor their commitment and service to thechamber and the community. I alsothank those who continue on in serviceon the board for their willingness to helpkeep that momentum growing.I am sure that we all appreciate thosewho are retiring from board member-ship for their hard work these last coupleof years. They were there to see theChamber through some rough spots andhelp reverse what had been a downwardtrend. To them and many other strongsupporters of the Chamber who workedbehind the scenes this last year or two goour thanks for their positive, enthusiastic
outlook from which we now benet.
The Chamber will continue to refocus
and redene itself in this fast-paced,
ever-changing world. There are deeproots here…and they give us a strongfoundation for continued growth, whilestill changing with the technology andthe times to meet the needs as they inturn change. The Chamber members represent adiverse network of small businesses andprofessionals. They are and will continueto be the backbone of this community—individuals and families living and work-ing here in Pasco, Franklin County andthe surrounding area.A quick note—I appreciate the responsesto the membership survey contained inthe previous newsletter. If you would liketo participate in that and haven’t yet, I
encourage you to nd your copy of last
month’s newsletter and do that, or sendan email to the Chamber. We want tomake sure that we provide the value thatwe hope you expect. All comments received and surveysturned in will be taken into account aswe go through the process of strategicplanning in upcoming board meetings. If I haven’t made this message clear yet, letme say it unambiguously: I really do wantto hear from you!Thank you,
Ryan
