Tri-Cities Legislative Council
 taking issues to Olympi
Every year about this time, the Tri-CitiesLegislative Council loads up a bus andheads over to see the Powers That Be inthe state capitol. And they’re asking youto come along...The TCLC’s annual lobbying trip takesplace February 19th and 20th this year.$310 covers the bus ride over and back,a night at the Red Lion Inn at CapitolLake, meals and recep-tions, meetings with
political ofcials
and a group photoin the Senate.Issues thatthe TCLCwill weighin on thisyear areeconomicdevelopment, climate change and re-newable energy, regional transportation,Hanford clean-up and a discrepancybetween what Lockheed-Martin pays inB&O taxes versus other DOE contractors.Thursday evening, the 19th, TCLC willhost a reception that is expected toattract 250 politicians, lobbyists andothers. Last year a band led by LieutenantGovernor Brad Owen provided the musicand they are expected back this year.The Legislative Council consists of repre-sentatives from the Pasco, Hispanic, WestRichland and Tri-Cities Regional Chambersof Commerce and from TRIDEC and theTri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau.Council members meet ahead of timeto decide which issues to tackle. By thetime they head to Olympia, positions(and position papers) are distributed, tomake sure that group membersare all on the samepage.
