The following project discusses the design of a car-sharing system in the city of São Pau-lo, Brazil. It has the objective to determine the more relevant places for the vehicle sta-tions, to quantify and to give the characteristics of the service and to select the vehicle to be used in the system. The methodology used to determine the places for stations and the demand for the service is based on statistical analysis of the location of existing stations and the service level in cities where car-sharing has succeed. The determination of the vehicles to use in the system is made through a decision matrix which includes criteria such as performance, security, comfort, fuel consumption and autonomy, investment, and dimensions. The results show that the central zones are the most adequate for the install-ment of the of the car sharing system stations. This is explained by the fact that most the variables used to determine rather a region is convenient or not or car-sharing – such as number of inhabitants per area, the percentage of households with zero or one owned ve-hicle and the mean of transport - are favorable in those areas. Finally, the it is also pre-sented an economic and financial analysis regarding the company response installing and for operating the car-sharing system designed.
