Concerns to be addressed:GSA Social Media Policy – A directive governing employee use of social media and therelated expectations, rules and regulations implicated in government employment.
There have been concerns that the policy does not include any requirements for reporting all of the agency’s activities in the use of social media in support of  business objectives.
There have been concerns related to creating an expectation or a tacitly impliedrequirement for the use of social media. (Can’t force or coerce employees to signTOS agreements which are often related to the use of social media.)
Add any additional concernsGSA Social Media Handbook – An order that is intended to communicate topics relatedto “the use of social media tools to facilitate collaboration and information sharing insideand outside of the agency and expands upon the GSA directive on Social Media Policy.”
There is no clarity related to who, how and when the order will be updated.
There is no process identified for conforming to the requirements in the variouschapters.
Add any additional concernsTechnology – GSA’s hardware & software technology standards as related to the use of social media tools.
When should the agency engage in the use of commercially available products, for which there have been negotiated federal Terms of Service Agreements, or GSA managed enterprise applications available and supported by the CIO?
What technology standards will the agency build to so that it can deploy socialmedia technology tools. (i.e., RSS readers are built-in on version 7 of internetexplorer however this version is not uniformly available, so when the agencyoffers RSS capabilities how is that supported based on seemingly enterpriseinconsistencies?)
What technical support will be provided to users of social media tools within theIT Service Desk contract?
Add any additional concernsEmployee Questions – How will the agency respond to questions, concerns, and requestsfrom employees?
A group email box was created atnew.media@gsa.govbut it appears to not have been marketed as a way for employees to provide input. Will there be another mechanism? Should this email be removed?
New Media Communication. There are many divisions that are implicated in theagency’s use of new media tools (CIO, OCSC, Legal, OMS, CHCO, etc.) Howwill this conversation be facilitated and by whom?
Add any additional concerns
