Gospel
Matthew 4: 1-11
Light shines in the darkness for the upright., the psalmist sings. Isaiah declares that when we loose the bonds of injustice and share our bread with the hungry, the light breaks forth like the dawn. In another passage from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus, the light of the world, calls his followers to let the light of their good works shine before others. Go out into the world and spread the light through Gods word.

The spirit rose one morning And began to paint Face upon shape, shape upon shade. She sculpted beauty, And he being founded by God to see his essence Arranged and rearranged the patterns of life Until all who gaze See the colors of creation.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2014 The next planning meeting will be Monday, March 17, 2014 at 6:30p.m. in the lounge at the Broad Street United Methodist Church. This is the one of the biggest outreach ministries we do for the children of Norwich and we need your help! There are plenty of ways you can share your gifts and talents! Please call the church office at 334-2895 for more information, to let us know that you will just come to the meeting, or would be interested in helping in someway.
Cook rice and cool. Mix in drained pineapple and sugar. Whip milk and fold into rice mixture. Add marshmallows and chill. This can be made the day before, and is better this way.
A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the BiblePsalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter. Lille Rick was excited about the task, but he just couldnt remember the Psalm, after much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Ricky was nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly , The Lord is my Shepherd, and that is all I need to know. submitted by Pat Lindau

Millie Sayko *We are currently making a 2014 Altar Flower Schedule. If you would like to donate Altar Flowers in honor or memory of someone please contact the Parish Office to sign up for a Sunday. Stations of the Cross Stations of the Cross is a series of fourteen icons depicting incidents in the narrative of Christs passion, from Pilates house to the entombment, which are arranged around the walls of the church. We will use them as a devotional service called The Way of the Cross in which the stations are visited in turn with a pause for a reading, a versicle and response, and a collect. This is especially appropriate for the Fridays in Lent. We invite you to join us for this meaningful time of reflection each Friday in Lent beginning on March 8th at 4:30 p.m. Mr. Gary Brookins will lead us in this time of devotion throughout lent at Emmanuel. All are welcome!
Condolences to Sandra Colton & her Family on the passing of her daughter, Karen Robinson.
Last 2 sessions will be announced next month Everyone is welcome! All sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be provided.
