Bangladesh was known as east Pakistan until 1971. In 1971,Bangladesh had war with Pakistan to declare theirindependence as a different country with a right to speak theirown language. Loads of heroic people died giving their livesup to fight for independence. The Pakistani army had doneterrible things with innocent people in Bangladesh butBangladesh could not do anything because Pakistan wasoverpowering them at the time. The war lasted 9 months untilBangladesh got their independence and also the right for theirlanguage to be recognised. The leader of the Awami Leagueparty was called Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he was a freedomfighter for Bangladesh. In March 7, 1971 was a day ofsupreme test in his life.
