100 Reasons to Walk

(a participatory piece on walking by Norma D. Hunter and 100 friends)

As part of a Walking Festival, 100 people were asked to create a postcard for an exhibition on reasons for walking. The people were chosen as far as possible to meet the reason noted on their postcard e.g. the local postman was given the reason to deliver a letter. The postcards were displayed in 10 locations around the town of Huntly during the Walking Festival in 2010. Maps of the locations of the postcards were made available but not even the participants knew in which of the 10 places their postcard was displayed and so some had to walk all around the town to find their work. At the end of the festival the postcards were sent back to their creators.
