Indications
: Acute or chronic use in treatment of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and RA,treatment of postsurgical and dental pain, acute pain including dysmenorrhea. For theregression and reduction in the number of adenomatous colorectal polyps as an adjunctto usual care.

Mechanism of Action
:
 
May selectively inhibit cyclooxygenase-2, decreasing prostaglandinsynthesis.Therapeutic Effect: Relieves pain and inflammation in joints and smoothmuscle tissue.
Dosage
: (Adult) Osteoarthritis 200 mg/day as a single dose or in 2 divided doses. RA 100-200 mg bid. Postsurgical/dental pain, acute flare up of osteoarthritis 200 mg once daily or  bid, up to 400 mg/day.Acute pain eg dysmenorrhea 400 mg initially, plus 200 mg if needed on the firstday. Subsequent doses: 200 mg bid prn.Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) 400 mg bid.
Special Precaution
: Compromised cardiac function and other conditions predisposing to fluidretention, history of ulcer disease or GI bleeding. Advanced kidney or liver disease. Pregnancy and lactation. Children <18 y/o. Elderly and debilitated patients.
