“Hi Bella missed me!” I said cheerfully as I walked into the living room whichlighting didn’t seem very happy she didn’t seem to recognize me at first but thenshe jumped out of the couch and gave me a big hug which I was surprised becausewell it had been years since we seen each other. “Alyson hi how have you beenlong time no see, wow your skin is really pale you don’t get enough sun down therein California or what!” I had recognized that sad look the last time I saw her shehad been sad for leaving California to Phoenix 7 or 8 years ago. “I see you stillthe same as always” she said as she walked me to my room and laid my things on thebed of different brightless colors. “Yeah same little old me cheerful as alwaysclumsy too!” “So what have you been up to?” I asked sounding kinda desperate. “Ohnothing, much“. She had a weird look like she was actually happy which was a lookI wasn’t used to seeing when we were young . Well I’m just going out with the mostamazing guy ever. “Ha I knew it you’ve been bit by the love bug …. So who’s thelucky guy? I asked. His name is Edward Cullen she said. And as soon as I heardthat name I felt a strange tingle slither down my spine like if something aboutthat name suddenly haunted me. Oh I said . Yeah I can’t wait to introduce him toyou! She exclaimed. Can’t wait to meet him either, but when I heard myself saythat I sounded so unenthusiastic about it. “Ok c’mon” she said as she pulled me bythe arm heading for the entrance . Hey dad me and Ally are going down to La Pushfor a while ok she said. Alright be back by dinner time alright I heard him yellback from the living room not taking his eyes off the t v screen. Ok so where’syour ride I asked. Right here she said pointing at an reddish orange truck . “Niceride…I’m kidding trust me my dad gave me something way worse than this…a bike!” Welaughed as we got in the truck hey so who gave it to you your mom dad? No my oldbest friend Jacob, she said . So where is this place so called “La Push” , Iasked. Its where most of my life is, I spent my whole time down there. So thisEdward guy hasn’t given you any trouble right? I asked hopeful receiving apositive answer. “ no of course not” she answered but I knew she was lying. “Ok sowhere exactly are we going Bella?” I asked. “ Were going to meet up with Edward atthe beach” she said. Still I had that tingle mingling down my spine as I heard hisname again and I guess Bella noticed because she looked at me and said ”Are you okAl”. “Yeah I am ok just a little tired from the long trip” I said. Then there wasa silent awkwardness the rest of the ride until she pulled up by the edge of a bigcliff that leaded to the cool breeze of the ocean I couldn’t shake off thisfeeling I had felt back at the house and during the whole ride. I saw two othertrucks and cars parked beside the reaching waves. I jumped off the truck to greether friends which seemed very very nice then I saw a group of short haired guystoo short by the way but I didn’t walked towards them I stuck to Bella the wholetime. Then suddenly I felt that tingle on my spine again as a fancy car pulled up.“Hi Edward” Bella screamed behind me he hadn’t even gotten off the car and shejumped all over him. I was very surprised I hadn’t seen her that happy in a longtime! I saw a guy with brown medium hair getting off he looked gorgeous but notmuch that I liked him he had a stern but happy look on his face which was verypale. Then Bella called me over the meet him “Edward this is Jennifer an oldfriend of mine from California” she said in a cheerful voice. But as soon as hesaw me his hands started to shake and turned his stare away from me he didn’t evensay hi or anything he pulled Bella aside and seemed to just walk away with her“Hey aren’t you going to say hi to her don’t be rude sorry Jenny” she said walkingback towards me. “Hi man you seem to be doing a good job by keeping her happy ifyou don’t you’ll regret it… I’m kidding” I said cheerfully giving a smile and thenwe shook hands our hands were both icy cold but his were even colder in a strangeway then it hit me hard as a rock, my smile slowly faded away to a scared look aswe all walked back to the crowd…”A vampire!” I whispered to myself almost forBella hearing me “What?” she asked. “Oh nothing just a little head ache I guessmind I just go rest a while in your truck?” “Yeah go ahead no problem we’ll beback here alright” “Yeah thanks” I said walking to the truck. I climbed on the bedof the truck and put my head on my knees. I couldn’t stand the horror I was livingit was right in front of me vampire, vampire was everything that floated in my
 
mind I was used to that word strangely one whole bad thing about this reunion wasthat I had been lying to my old best friend something big and secret somethingthat she would never know but was the only thing that might keep her alive or whatI though would keep her alive that I myself was very very familiar too familiar Itoo was a vampire but she didn’t know it but I was now force to tell her about itI had been a vampire for 3 hundred years now I had a rough time at the beginning Iwas a killer and I accepted it but I hadn’t killed anyone in a long time when Isaid that I felt weird saying it like that like something normal but really wasn’tnow my best friend was dating a vampire but wouldn’t she already notice it I meanit was kinda obvious I just stared at him he was always under the shade keepinghimself away from light it had been a cloudy day but that didn’t prevent him fromtaking precautions on that neither did I, I had a hoodie on over my face whichdidn’t seem to be necessary at all there was no sun which was very common here inForks. In California it would be very different I had to stay inside the wholetime except at night, but I am always the kind of person who never lets somethinglike this get in the way of my happiness I was now back together with my bestfriend Bella that was all that counted so I jumped off the truck leaping towardsthem but suddenly I saw I guy who was struggling, trying to take out some boxesoff the back of his truck I couldn’t really see his face but I could see he hadthe same hair as the other group of guys did too. “Hey you need any help there?” Iasked rushing to help him I took some of the boxes off the top. “Oh yeah thanks”he said then he looked at me setting the boxes down by the group of guys with theweird hair. “Hi I’m Jacob” he said setting out a hand to greet me with a hugesmile. “Oh yeah Bella has talked about you” I said. “Your new around here aren’tyou I’ve never seen you before” he said. “Yeah I’m here visiting Bella I’m an oldfriend of hers from California” I said looking kinda surprised I’d never seensomeone so beautiful his dark brown skin just made me melt but when it came tothat I wasn’t good at expressing it at all so he didn’t notice how I was staringat him. Then I kinda got stuck when he started to make conversation with me thenhe asked “You don’t seem like the kinda girl who would hang out with Bella” hesaid. “I know but I like how she just acts so serious and she was the only one whodefended me from bullies in 2nd grade” I chuckled. “Hi Ally” Bella said walkingtowards me with Edward. “Hi” I replied. “Feeling better?” she asked. “Yeah I’malright… just a little fever that’s all” I said. Then I saw Jacob’s hand touch myforehead I felt his warm skin make contact with mine “It doesn’t seem you even hada fever your too cold” he said which kinda ruined my plan of making Edward think Iwasn’t a vampire but I think he would still notice cause he stared me down withhis green eyes like he was reading my thoughts which he was but I couldn’t readhis. Then I slid off the rock I was sitting on and rushed through the beginning ofa trail leading towards the forest that seemed to lead nowhere every time Istepped. They must’ve been thinking what was wrong with me which I myself didn’teither I felt worried scared loved and something that just didn’t make sensesomething about this town made me fear about something but I didn’t know what Ifelt like I was closer to more vampires but I refused my mind to believe itbecause if I stayed Bella had a risk of being in danger which I couldn’t stand shewas my best friend and I was determined to ask her about it and finally tell hereverything and she would too cause I knew she was lying to me about something morethan Edward and his secret, something else had happened something that had left ascar on Bella’s chest that I too could feel like if it was my own. I felt himclose, closer and closer I turned around and saw him standing right in from of me.I whispered “A vampire recognizes another vampire” . “How long have you beenhiding it from her, does she know?” I asked. “Yes” he answered with a sweet tonein his voice. “You haven’t hurt her right?” I asked desperately.He didn’t answer but I didn’t need him to I knew what the answer would be “yes”.“What did you do to her?” I asked. “I think she would like to tell you instead ofme,….. I know your intentions they are good and pure….. There was a long silencebetween his words “You need to work on your self control I can help you” heoffered. “Bella’s my best friend I want to keep her safe and if that’s what its
 
gonna take then I’m in you got yourself a deal” I agreed. “But you have anothersecret don’t you?” he asked my face was blank but at the same time with confusion.“Not that I know of?” I said my face confused. “Yes your only half vampire yourhalf….. His words broke off when Bella found us. “Hey where were you guys I waslooking for ya’ll” she said. “Umm Bella can I talk to you oh not right now laterits kinda private” I said. “Yeah sure” she replied. As we were getting closer tothe beginning of the trail I saw Jacob he’s face was worried “Ah thank god” hesaid in relief as he saw me walk behind Bella and Edward. “Yeah thanks forworrying” I said. “Hey guys uh my dad just called he said Emily is cooking somesteak and told me invite you guys over for dinner what do you say?” “Well ummJenny you wanna go or what?” she turned and asked me. “Oh I go where ya’ll go so…yeah sure ill go” I replied. “Oh its cause you said you had a fever a while a goso I just thought I might ask first” she said. “ Im not going to let aninsignificant little fever stop the celebration c’mon lets go!” I exclaimed injoy. But my mind knew the real me how I was really feeling I just wanted to goback to the house and sleep my pain away, now I just had to suck it up the wholetime. Jacob’s gang and Edward climbed in the back and we went to Jake’s housewhich was not far from the beach at all his house was a small one but had a goodmood which rubbed off on me and taped a big smile on my face. When we walked in Isaw a grown man on a wheelchair with long black hair I was guessing that wasJacob’s dad because I could see the resemblance between them and in the kitchen Isaw a girl which looked more like she was 20 or something Bella told me that SamUley’s fiancé. I headed over to Billy the man in the wheelchair and introducedmyself “ Hi Billy” Bella said. “ This is Alyson my old friend in California” shesaid. “Hi nice to meet you” I said while I extended my hand to shake his but whenI was shaking his hand his look was worried and turned into frustration “I’m BillyJacob’s dad” he said still looking worried. And then as soon as our hands departedhe rushed his chair to Jacob’s in the hall way and was whispering something to himand Jacob’s face when blank and then he chuckled staring at me. Until now meetingpeople wasn’t my thing they both ended up people talking about me I hadn’t takenmyself as someone weird except for the fact that I was a vampire other than that Iwas someone everyone liked to be around with well that was true in California butnot seem to be the same here in Forks. I went over to a greenish couch sittingdown next to a guy who’s name was Quil Bella had told me all about the group ofreally short haired guys. He was playing with a knife flipping it open and thenclosing it trying to impress me “He” he said. “Nice but I don’t think you shoulddo that you might…” he broke me off “ Oww” he said in pain “ I cut myself” he saidas he laid his hand right on my face… then the smell of blood was dancing on mynose telling me to bite, bite, bite but I refused myself to do it I jumped off thecouch and rushed outside slamming the door behind me for everyone to notice andglare at the door I ran into the forest which I was surprised to see very closeacross the road it was dark I could only hear the wind blowing I sat on the grassnot going to far, close enough for me to still see the house and laid my head onmy fists thinking and trying to contain myself I wasn’t the one the went all crazyand flopping all over the place for that but at that moment I felt like I would’veany second I could feel my tears falling down my cheeks and then the breeze makingthem feel cold. I was thinking of what I was and what I was going to be, thinkingof what Edward was going to say when he said I was half vampire and then halfsomething how did he know that and I had no clue what it was… those words floatedmerrily in my head then I closed my eyes and opened them again and saw Edwardstanding right in from of me giving me a freight I jumped in terror, “Oh god whydo you keep on doing that stop it!” I screamed at him. “ I saw what happened” hesaid “You know everything don’t you” I replied. “No but I saw you loose controlfor a second that’s what I’m talking about I have to help you if you want to stayhere” he said, “ I know what I felt I just hadn’t felt that way in a long time” Isaid almost crying which I wasn’t used to in from of people mostly in front ofEdward. “Ok so…” I interrupted him before he even began the question. “What didyou mean when you said I was only half vampire and half…something please finish
