Restricted Area Application and Terms of Service
Section I: Information and Terms of Service
1. The Restricted Area: The SPAM Web Site restricted area (RA) is that area of the SPAM website that is intended solely foruse by SPAM Members (Member) in good standing. This area may contain information, editorials, views, and opinions that may notbe suitable for dissemination to the general public. Therefore, it is the intent of the Association to make this area and its contentsecure. In order to accomplish this, access to the files which comprise this area is restricted by use of a USER ID and PASSWORDwhich will be issued to qualified Members upon approval by the SPAM Executive Board or its agents. Furthermore, access to theRA or portions thereof may be blocked from certain computer networks.2. Application and Qualification: Members may become qualified to access the RA by completing an application andagreeing to the terms of service thereon. This application shall be reviewed and signed by the applicant’s SPAM representative andforwarded to SPAM for endorsement prior to delivery to the site administration. Upon approval, the applicant will be assigned aUSER ID and PASSWORD. Upon cessation of Membership in the Association for any reason, access to this area shall beterminated. Violation of any part of these terms may also result in suspension or removal from RA access, as well as other actionsdeemed appropriate by the E-Board. A valid private email address may be required for access to certain features. It is the member’sresponsibility to ensure that they have an accurate email address on file in this case.3. Security: USER ID’s and PASSWORDS are issued for the sole use of the Member and may not be assigned, shared, ortransferred. The Member shall be responsible for the security of his/her USER ID and PASSWORD and must take precautions tomaintain this security. Should the Member have reason to believe that their PASSWORD has been compromised in any way, it willbe the Member’s responsibility to notify the site administration forthwith so that the PASSWORD may be disabled and a newPASSWORD assigned.
The Member shall take all precautions to prevent any unauthorized persons from accessing orviewing contents of the RA, including printing, saving, bookmarking, or otherwise transmitting RA pages or other content.
 The site administration under the direction of the Executive Board reserves the right to modify or change USER ID’s and/orPASSWORDS and restrict or suspend access to the RA at any time and without notice should circumstances so dictate.4. Content and Liability: The State Police Association of Massachusetts, the Site Administration, the Site Hosts, and anyothers involved in the authoring and maintenance of the RA assume no responsibility for information, views, opinions, or other datacontained in the site. It is expected that any material submitted to the RA by Members, including but not limited to editorials, articles,message board postings, advertisements, and commentary be civil in nature and accurate in content. Material contained within theRA is the responsibility of the author, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of the State Police Association of Massachusetts,the Executive Board, or the site administration. While it is not the intent of the Association or site administration to restrict or limitwhat may be posted in the RA, any material that in the Site Administration or Executive Board’s opinion is not appropriate for the RAmay be edited or deleted accordingly. Members who post defamatory material may be subject to action as deemed appropriate bythe Executive Board.Access to the RA is at the Member’s risk. The Association and site administration are not responsible for any type of hardware orsoftware incompatibility. Although the Association and site administration will take reasonable precautions against incidents of“hacking”, they do not assume any liability for such incidents or any installation of malicious code or content that may result fromsuch an incident.The RA may contain links to other Internet sites and resources, which are not under the direction or control of the Association, andtherefore the Association and the site administration will not be responsible for any material contained in linked sites.The site content is copyrighted by the State Police Association of Massachusetts and may not be reproduced or disseminated in anyway without permission. The site compilation and design is copyrighted by the site administration and may not be reproduced ordisseminated in any way without permission.5. Costs and Fees: The Association website and Restricted Area will be provided free of charge to those Members withInternet access. The Association does not provide Internet connections, hardware, or software. It is the Member’s responsibility toprovide their own computer, modem, and Internet access.6. Other: The Association and site administration reserve the right to edit or amend these terms of service at any timewithout notice.
