Quick & Easy Set-Up of Packet8 Internet Phone Service
Welcome to Packet8 Internet Phone Service. Soon, you’ll be able to make all your calls over the Internet and save a bundle onmonthly phone charges.
 
It’ll take you just a few minutes to set up your phone with the Packet8 adapter box. You are going to connect the Packet8 boxto both your DSL/cable modem (the box that gives you access to the Internet) and your regular telephone. Just follow thequick and easy set-up instructions below.(DSL subscribers should skip to page 5 for specific instructions.)

Follow these steps below and you’ll have your Packet8Internet Phone Service up and running in no time.
 
If you are using your own router, you will require a slightly different set-up (see step 1A below). Think of a router as a telephonesplitter for the Internet – it shares the Internet signal so you can plug in more than one device, like several computers and yourPacket8 box.
 Take the existing cable connecting the modem to your computer and unplug it from thecomputer. Plug that end into the jack labeled “WAN” on the Packet 8 box.

If you are already using a router, plug one end of the blue Ethernet cable into the WAN jack on the Packet8 box and the other end into your existing router (which is plugged into yourmodem).

Plug one end of the enclosed power cable into a wall socket and the other end into the jack on the Packet8 box that says “Power.”

Connect your regular home telephone to the Packet8 box using the enclosed telephonewire. Plug one end of the wire into the jack on the back of the box labeled “LINE” and theother end into your regular phone. Caution: Do
NOT
plug this wire directly into a wall jack.

If you wish to connect a computer to the Packet8 box, you can use a cable to plug it intothe jack labeled “LAN” in the back of the adapter box. If you don’t want to connect a com-puter, skip to the next step.
