Egg Drop Project
ObjectiveCreate a design that does not allowan egg to break when dropped fromthe classroom window. Design Requirements
Design must have a mass of800g or less. This massshould include:
 
-egg (large egg ~ 60 g)- Your designDesign Rules
No pre-made containers maybe used. Pre-made containerswould include cups, boxes,plastic eggs, etc.
 
You may not wrap your eggwith a product & present thisas your design.
 
A design must be created bythe student. Packing a bagfull of one item (like cotton)is not an example of a design.I am interested in seeing your thought process whencreating your design.
 
Materials that MAY be used:
Card board (to make acontainer)
 
Balloons
 
Newspaper/Tissue Paper
Straws
 
Cotton
Paper clips
Toothpicks
 
Smaller bags
 
String
 
Rubber bands
 
Ask me if you have a differentitem in mind that does not fallon the unapproved list to see ifit is Ok to use.
 
Designs are due TuesdayEggs will be dropped on Friday,October 23rd.Items that you MAY NOT use include: quilt batting, bubble wrap, packingpeanuts (any type), foam rubber products (Nerf®), polystyrene products(Styrofoam ®), food products, insulation products of any type, stuffedanimals, no liquids, shaving cream, Gak® & Gak- like products. Ask if you areuncertain if the product will be accepted or not.

Students that answer each of the questions are eligible to receive an A on thisproject. Students that are striving to get an A on their project, but their egg broke, may still receive an A if they analyzein their concluding paragraph (with great detail) why their egg broke by relating the concepts of physics to theirdesign. Students should also include how they would improve their design. Design improvements should includereasons based on the physics concepts being studied. Extra credit points are only available for students wanting toachieve an A.
