Evaluation Activity 4 Who would be the audience for your media project?

From the beginning, I always intended in creating a magazine that it target towards the same age as me, to which I chose an age range of 17-20, female teenagers/young adults. I think that this is a suitable target audience due to the fact that I am able to relate and make decisions that I will believe that my peers and intended readers would be interested in and would create an impact to most of the decisions I would make during this creation process. I think that my chosen model, Erika Torok, fits my age range example due to the fact that she is very much so into the sort of indie/pop music vibe and is interested in high end fashion and being unique. She is into a wide variety of movies, music and clothing, to which this magazine would be perfect for someone like her who can take advice and style tips from what it has to offer. You would typically associate the sort of female 17-20 year olds with being in contact with social media and by discovering new and upcoming fashion and music that is yet to be known in a high-end and popular industry. She is interested in artists who are discovered on BBC Introducing, which brings together all of the BBCs supporters of undiscovered and unsigned music. By uploading their own tracks to the BBC Radio 1 site, it gives upcoming singers and bands an opportunity for their songs to be played on the radio and a chance to get a slot on one of the stages at a festival for upcoming artists. I think that this is a brilliant way of showcasing new talent, and for people like Erika, gives others who are interested in new talent like herself, a new opportunity. On Erikas phone, she listens to artists such as Marina & The Diamonds, M.I.A and Foxes; she enjoys looking for new style trends and high-end fashion. She shops at outlets and unknown stores. She purchases most of her music online via iTunes and uses it regularly as a tool to find new artists. For teenagers such as Erika, they would have a part-time job at this time that will be able to help pay for iTunes cards, a way in which music can be bought on their independent store. I think that this facility is good for teenagers to use due to the fact that it is simple and those who have an iPod or iPhone is able to access the iTunes store as many times as they want per day, which gives people like Erika a lot more time discovering upcoming artists.
