//page 1//section Title PageAtom-Smashing Power of Mind//text//page 3//section Foreword//textA great many passages in this book testify to CharlesFillmore's persistent interest in what is popularly calledatomic energy and the promise held out by its developmentof a better world for mankind. As he rejoiced in thescientific achievement of its discovery so he tirelesslydevoted his thought to its guidance into the channels ofpeaceful use. On every occasion he urged those having to dowith its development to make sure that this unique form ofenergy, this great gift of the Father, would not be used toworsen life and destroy mankind. From another standpoint Charles Fillmore's mind was simplyfascinated by the idea of the atom, this infinitesimalparticle of substance, and the enormous energy locked up init. At times he thought of it as the most perfectrepresentation in the manifest world of that divine mentalor spiritual energy which pervades all things and which, when properly expressed through the minds of His children, serves so greatly to glorify God. At other times he thoughtof it as the very essence of this mental or spiritualenergy, Spirit-mind itself! The reader will find each oneof these standpoints set forth over and over--perhapsvaguely and mystically at times--but ever testifying to thealertness and vitality of Charles Fillmore's mind and hisunflagging interest in everything in his world.//page 4As will be readily recognized by Unity readers, thearticles appearing as chapters in this book, wereoriginally published in Unity magazine over a period ofhalf a century, one of them going back as far as the year1898.In the last paragraph of Chapter VIII the author gives hisreaders a clear formula for dealing with the problem of theatom:"The great and most important issue before the people todayis the development of man's spiritual mind and through itunity with God. . . . The taproot of all our confusion isour failure to use our mind intelligently. We can onlythink as God would have us think by adjusting our thoughtsto divine ideas. Religion and all that it implies in prayer
and recognition of God in idea and manifestation is the oneand only way out of the chaos in which we find ourselves. We must therefore begin at once to develop this unity withthe Father-Mind by incorporating divine ideas into all thatwe think and speak."//page 5//section Contents//textForeword ... 3CHAPTERI The Atomic Age ... 9II The Restorative Power of the Spirit ... 18III Spiritual Obedience ... 26IV I AM or Superconsciousness ... 36V The Day of Judgment ... 45VI Thou Shalt Decree a Thing ... 50VII Thinking in the Fourth Dimension ... 56VIII Is This God's World? ... 63IX Demonstrating Christ Thought by Thought ... 70X Truth Radiates Light ... 80XI The Only Mind ... 87XII Contact with the Christ Mind ... 98XIII Metaphysics of Shakespeare ... 106//page 6XIV The Body ... 116XV Faith Precipitations ... 125XVI The Seed Is the Word ... 134XVII The Resurrecting Power of the Word ... 142XVIII Transfiguration ... 150XIX The End of the Age ... 160Question Helps ... 173

They think thatSpirit plays no part in mundane affairs and can be known bya person only after his death."But Jesus said, 'God is Spirit'; He also said, 'Thekingdom of God is within you.' Science tells us that thereis a universal life that animates and sustains all theforms and shapes of the universe. Science has broken intothe atom and revealed it to be charged with tremendousenergy that may be released and be made to give theinhabitants of the earth powers beyond expression, when itslaw of expression is discovered."Jesus evidently knew about this hidden energy in matterand used His knowledge to perform so-called miracles."Our modern scientists say that a single drop of watercontains enough latent energy to blow up a ten-storybuilding. This energy, existence of which has beendiscovered by modern scientists, is the same kind ofspiritual energy that was known to Elijah, Elisha, andJesus, and used by them to perform miracles."By the power of his thought Elijah penetrated the atomsand precipitated an abundance of rain. By//page 10the same law he increased the widow's oil and meal. Thiswas not a miracle--that is, it was not a divineintervention supplanting natural law--but the exploitationof a law not ordinarily understood. Jesus used the samedynamic power of thought to break the bonds of the atomscomposing the few loaves and fishes of a little lad'slunch--and five thousand people were fed."Science is discovering the miracle-working dynamics ofreligion, but science has not yet comprehended the dynamicdirective power of man's thought. All so-called miracleworkers claim that they do not of themselves produce themarvelous results; that they are only the instruments of asuperior entity. It is written in I Kings, 'The jar of mealwasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according tothe word of Jehovah, which he spake by Elijah.' Jesuscalled Jehovah Father. He said, 'The works that I do in my
