Highland Heights Park Update
Jeff Braimes, our past AHA Chair, recentlyattended a very exciting meeting at theRoosevelt Elementary school where planswere laid out for a school garden!Ted & Nancy Seifert & Pam Behee are drivingthe project and asked at that meeting whetherthe three neighborhoods that feed Roosevelt(Alabama Hill, Roosevelt & southwest Mt.Baker) might be interested in some kind oflimited partnership where the garden isconcerned. This may only amount to somestewardship during the summer when schoolwasn’t in session, or there could certainly beexpanded opportunity. For more information call Doug Bestle or JeffBraimes (733-3014)

Highland Heights Park update:
by Brian WalkerRegarding the Highland Heights Park progress, I didhear from the landscape architect that the City islooking for more funding to incorporate a pavedpedestrian corridor from the playground to Illinois Streetfor ADA compliance. Jonathan Schilk indicated thatparks projects now require City building departmentreview and he is concerned that the project would notreceive approval without the accessible route. In thenext few weeks I will ask Schilk if additional funding isavailable, and maybe open a discussion regardingpossible ways to trim back the current proposal to findmonies for the ADA route. I will keep you informed.

If you have any other questions regarding the plan, please give me a call. Brian Walker,
AHA NW Area Rep
