RED RIBBON WEEK - OCTOBER 23-31

In Westminster, Colorado

What is Red Ribbon Week?

An ideal way for people and communities to take a visible stand against
drugs and to show their personal commitment to a drug-free lifestyle
through the symbol of the Red Ribbon.

WHY?
The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico
tortured and murdered Kiki Camarena, a DEA agent, in 1985. Congress
declared the last full week of October as “Red Ribbon Week”. This began
the continuing tradition of wearing and displaying red ribbons as a symbol
of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon
Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment toward the
Creation of a DRUG-FREE AMERICA.
