0042 Letters Wing Family

Vassar College, Nov. 14. 1869. Dear Father & Mother; Your letter dated Nov. 13th reached me Nov. 13th. I would have replied to it at once, but as I was so pressed for time I concluded to wait until today, so as to be able to explain matters more fully. Well, the long looked for Thanksgiving, has come at last, and I will lay the programme of the day before your eyes that you may know what I expect to do on this day. The rising bell struck at seven A.M, breakfast at eight o'c, chapel at eight thirty, luncheon will take place or rather be ready at twelve thirty, dinner at five P.M, reading in chapel from Shakspeare by Pres. Raymond from seven forty-five to eight-forty five, Presidents reception at his house from eight forty five to ten P.M. Retire at ten twenty. I have a good many letters to answer today, and among them, Laura Hall's, recd some thing over 2 months ago. Now I must explain matters a little. When I was examined in Latin by Miss Lord, she told me that it would not be necessary for me to write to the faculty to be admitted to the Freshman Class for she would state my case to the faculty. So I failed to state the making up of the Latin in my first note to the faculty & so I wrote a second time & stated every thing, and a reply has come from the Faculty that Angie C. Wing is admitted to the Freshman Class. There is no mistake in this, for I saw it written down in black & white in Pres. R's hand writing. The making up & examination of my Latin, was either, never sent to the Faculty or was lost, for they were ignorant that I had made up any thing. So all is right now and I shall go on my way rejoicing. When you sit down to your Thanksgiving dinner today, I know you will remember me & rest assured, that I am not the only one whose heart turned homeward at dinner time. Recd a short letter from Walton yesterday. Learned last night that Laura Gay (one of my last year's parlor mates & the graduate) is lady principal of a school in Delhi. It seems so queer to think of our Laura so full of fun, herself, at the head of a school. But I must close. With much love & a Happy Thanksgiving. Angie
