The Marriage Preparation Course
“How do engaged couples build good foundations for marriage?”
The Marriage Preparation Course is designed for engaged couples who want to develop strongfoundations for a lasting marriage. The sessions during the five-week course are intimate andrelaxed, with a meal followed by short talks and interspersed with exercises and questions forcouples to discuss privately.
Churches tell us how couples have benefitted from The Marriage Preparation Course.
“The Marriage Preparation Course prepares couples well for married life. The issues addressedare highly practical and beneficial. The intervals between the video presentations are helpfulas they give time for both parties to reflect, dialogue and discover each other’s perspectives. We have completed 3 runs and we will definitely continue to run this course in our church!”
Rev Michael Teh
, Chapel of the Holy Spirit“Our church has been running the Marriage Preparation Course for a number of years. Priorto this, we tried a few other formats but found that the Marriage Preparation Course fromAlpha is comparatively more structured and comprehensive. The video presentations are veryaccessible. It is engaging and easy to understand. I would not hesitate to recommend thiscourse to other churches.”
Pastor Stanley Tay
, St. John’s - St. Margaret’s Church“I found the teaching to be creative and lively, taking a load offthe pastors to prepare the lessons. It helps the couple interact witheach other, which is great. It is also sensitive to couples who arenew to the Christian faith.”

“What’s involved in being a good parent of toddlers and teenagers?”
The much awaited Parenting Book is now here in Singapore! Like in their earlier books, Nickyand Sila Lee draw on their own experiences in raising four children and other expert opinions. The book offers practical help for the challenges of raising children in today’s world.
Here we feature an excerpt from The Parenting Book:
“
Nothing really prepares us for the impact of our first child’s arrival. We turn up for this jobunprepared. There are no degrees or diplomas in parenting. Most of us have had no training at all. But when we bring our newborn baby home from hospital, for many of us, the realisationdawns: This is the most important job in the world and we have not got a clue what we aredoing. Parenting has never been easy. Many of us are stretched in one way or another, some tobreaking point. Feelings of anxiety and inadequacy are universal among parents. Our culturehas become more complex, more demanding and, for some, more scary. But there are certaintruths on parenting that withstand the test of time. We aim to pass on simple insights and time-tested values, which can easily be incorporated into your family life. However you feel you are doing in your parenting, we hope The Parenting Book will encourage you. Most of all, rather than make you feel guilty, inadequate or plain tired at thethought of what is involved, we hope to inspire you, encourage you and give you a vision for what lies ahead.
