Creating an account

Before you can subscribe to any RSS feeds, you first need to create an account in Bloglines.Go tohttp://www.bloglines.comand click on “Register” at the top right. Enter your email address, choosea password, and set the time zone. Click “Register”

Subscribing to an RSS Feed

To subscribe to a RSS feed, you’ll first need to copy its URL as described below.

Open a new browser window (CTRL N)

1. Go to the blog or other web page which has a feed to which you would like tosubscribe. Look for one of these symbols (or something similar) or a link that says RSSor XML.2. In Internet Explorer, right click on the icon or link and select “copy shortcut.”In Firefox, right click on the icon or link and select “copy link location.” This will copy theURL to your clip board.

Now, go back to the Bloglines browser window

1. Click “Add” at the top of the left frame.2. Paste (CTRL V) the URL for the feed intothe box and click “Subscribe”3. This will open the “Available Feeds”dialog box.Most of the options can remain on thedefault settings, however, you may wish tochange the following:

Create a folder for the feed

Change “Access” from public to private4. Click “Subscribe”

Viewing RSS Feeds

Bloglines uses a two frame layout: feeds are listed in the left frame and content appears on the right.

Feeds (Left Frame)

If you created a folder for the feed, the feed will appear under the folder name, click the plus sign next tothe folder name to view the individual feeds. If you didn’t put your feed in a folder, the feed will remain inthe top level.Notice that if there are any new posts from the feed, its name appears in bold. The number of newposts will appear in parentheses after the name.

Content (Right Frame)

1. To view the posts for a feed, click on the feed name in the left frame. To view all of the feeds in afolder, click on the folder name in the left frame.2. The posts will open in the right frame. To view the text of the post, click the plus sign.
